OPERA TOUR TO LISBON
- Leave Lucca by train at 6am, change in Prato, reserved seat on IC train to Bologna (14 euros)
- Arrive at Bologna train station, take bus from front of station (5 euros) to airport
- Arrive at airport approx. two hours before the 12.35 flight (estimate 300 euros RT);
- Arrive at Lisbon Airport at 14.35, take bus (3.50 euros) or taxi (approx. 13 euros) to Pza. Rossio, 5-star hotel (160 euros per night, double room, full
breakfast)
- At 17.30, walk uphill 20 minutes or take a taxi to Teatro San Carlos, where Wagner’s Götterdämmerung begins at 6 pm.* Tickets from 35 to 90 euros.
(Seating in the round, all seats are good.)
- The opera has two breaks; the first is an hour, allowing time to eat at a nearby café. The second break is 30 minutes. The opera ends at 23.30. We
suggest you return to your hotel by taxi.
Next day, explore Lisbon by foot. Or travel one hour out of town (metro and train) to visit a lovely village and beach on the Atlantic Ocean (more details on request). Markets with tableclothes, lace, tiles, etc. Enjoy the fresh Atlantic seafood! Our favourite Lisbon restaurant offers a dozen oysters for 18 euros….
Or you might want to attend another opera, such as Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin (dates upon request).

Return flight at 8.05 (take taxi at 5.45 am from in front of your hotel, approx. 13 euros). Arrive in Bologna, then take return bus and train to Lucca.
Cost per person 524 euros: 28 train, 10 bus, 300 flight, 26 airport taxis, 160 hotel (per person 2 nights). Operas, meals, drinks and other transportation priced separately. Fee for reservations and information, Lisbon map and summary of the opera: 50 euros per person.
